Show how it was written

Student-owned writing process record. Receipts records editing activity while a student writes. The student can share a private replay and factual record with a teacher. Receipts does not generate an AI score.

The problem

A detector says "AI". The student has nothing to show.

Detectors guess. One study found they wrongly flagged 61% of essays by non-native English writers (Liang et al., Patterns, 2023).

A final draft cannot show how it was written. The student is asked to prove a negative.

Receipts gives them something to show instead: the writing, as it happened.

How it worksThe student writes and shares. The teacher can see the process.

  1. 01 · Student

    Write in Receipts

Start a draft in the browser editor. No installation is needed.

  2. 02 · Browser

    Record the edits

Typing, pasting and edits form a record stored in the browser.

  3. 03 · Student

    Share privately

Preview the record, then send a link or proof file through the teacher's usual route.

  4. 04 · Teacher

    Review the process

Read the facts, inspect an edit, and ask about a specific moment when needed.

Students choose what to share. Missing or incomplete records never count against them. Google Drive backup is optional.

What the teacher gets

What a teacher can review.Read the recorded facts, open a moment, and replay the edits.

How it was revised

It cannot show who typed, what was on another screen, or whether text was retyped from somewhere else. A missing or odd number never counts against the student.

Open a recorded moment in the replay, then ask the student about that specific source or revision.

    Privacy and limits

Privacy and limits. The student holds the record and chooses when to share it.

What the service does not do
    Upload writing to our servers
The app keeps records in the student's browser, with optional backup to their Google Drive. We separately receive site analytics and any billing or support information described in the privacy policy.
    Charge for evidence
Free for students, forever. Written into the school terms.
    Watch students
There is no live student monitoring. Teachers review only the records students choose to share.
    What it cannot do
Say who was at the keyboard
It shows what the browser saw, not who typed.
    See a second screen
Another device, or a friend in the room, is invisible to it.
    Identify retyping or off-screen help
Retyping and device-level automation can resemble ordinary keyboard input. The record cannot establish where the ideas came from.

Receipts does not generate an AI score. Missing or incomplete evidence stays neutral.

    61%

average false-positive rate across seven detectors tested on 91 essays by non-native English speakers in a 2023 study. This is not a current accuracy estimate for all detectors.
